Caucasian Chalk Circle

To put the play in the world's smallest nut shell (considering that it was a pivotal piece in its time and is considered to be one of Brecht's masterpieces):

The Caucasian Chalk Circle
Dramatic parable by Bertolt Brecht 1945. The child of a provincial governor in the Caucasus is rescued and brought up by Grusha, a maid, but is finally reclaimed by its natural mother. Forced into assuming the role of judge between the two mothers, a village record-keeper, Azdak, awards the child to Grusha.

Ok - the judge - think Solomon.
So, the funny thing here, to me, is that I'm an "Adult Child of Theatre Parents".Both of my parents have directed this on several occasions. However, when I was around 18 months old, my father thought that I should play the stolen baby. The problem was, every time the audience laughed, I laughed too. Did not work well, and I was replaced by a doll. But there was lots of publicity about the whole thing and quite a few photos.

This is computer generated, but it immediately made me think of myself and "Grusha" and our funny smelling costumes.
